A dealer in second-hand clothings, Sharon Okafor, has been arrested by the police for allegedly inflicting injury on a salesgirl.
The girl was injured in the face with broken ceramic plates, after a disagreement over payment for drinks and N400 fried meat.
The incident occurred at about 11.30 p.m. on July 25, at a bar opposite Lekki Phase One, in Eti Osa Local Government Area.
Lagos Metro learnt that Okafor, from Imo State, moved to Lagos from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, last year and was squatting with a friend at Ilasan Village, Lekki area.
She allegedly went to the bar in the company with a man, simply identified as Kingsley and they both ordered for drinks and N400 fried meat.
They were served by the salesgirl, Comfort, who demanded for payment after some times; since she was about closing and needed to tidy up sales book for the day.
A police source told Lagos Metro that problem started when the defendant insisted that her friend, Kingsley would only pay when they were done.
According to the source, Kingsley tried to take back the drinks and then threw a plate at her, about 15 men later pounced on her and beat her up till she fainted.
Okafor, 22, was arraigned on Tuesday by the police at Igbosere magistrates’ court.
The prosecuting officer, O. Balogun, told the court that Okafor “unlawfully assaulted the complainant with a breakable plate and injured her on the face.”
