Two dead, six unconscious in Abia brothel

There was chaos on Uyo Street, Umuahia, Abia State, on Wednesday, after two guests were discovered dead and six others unconscious.

Although the cause of the incident had yet to be ascertained as of press time, it was learnt that those unconscious, which included the manager of the brothel, had been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

A source told our correspondent that the brothel, popularly called 50-50 Bar, usually hosted men who came to meet prostitutes at night.

The source, however, added that some occupants of the brothel raised the alarm as early as 8am that the manager was unconscious. The alarm drew residents to the scene.

He said, “It was the shout of the prostitutes that got our attention. By the time we got there, the manager was already unconscious, so we informed the police.”

The source explained that the owner of the brothel, simply identified as Madam 50-50, had yet to be seen since the incident happened.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ogbonaya Nta, confirmed the incident.

He said, “We got information that people died at the brothel. When we got there, we saw two lifeless bodies and six others, who were unconscious. The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary, while those unconscious are currently receiving treatment.”

He called on residents of the area to remain calm, saying the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department was investigating the cause of the incident.

Lagos resident killed after winning lottery

A 35-year-old man, Ejike Onyejekwe, has been killed in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, who lived on 21 Road, K Close, FESTAC, was stabbed to death after winning a lot of money from a lottery.

Our correspondent gathered that Onyejekwe, to celebrate the winning, bought drinks for his friends and threw a party last Thursday and Friday.

It was learnt that on Friday evening, he was heard arguing with an unidentified person on the phone.

He allegedly told his friend he was going to see the man, but never returned.

His corpse was allegedly discovered the next day on one of the estates.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said the chairman of the estate called the attention of residents to the corpse on Saturday.

He said, “I was sipping tea around 7am when I heard the chairman blowing a whistle. I thought it was strange, but my wife called my attention to the surging crowd on the estate.

“I went downstairs and saw the corpse on the road. Like everybody, I was alarmed. We could not tell how the corpse got there or who he was. He had multiple stab injuries in the head. We all resolved that the case should be reported at the FESTAC Police Station.”

It was learnt that some of the victim’s friends later identified him.

The corpse was said to have been deposited in a morgue, while the police arrested and detained the chairman of the estate and his secretary; they were later released.

A source told PUNCH Metro that the victim won a lottery few days to his death.

He said, “The man won a lot of money in a lottery and from last Thursday to Friday, he was asking his friends to drink at his expense.

“He was called on the phone that Friday evening and he went to meet a man. I suspect that a gang stabbed him and used an object to hit him in the head. There were bruises on his knees and it appeared they dragged him on the floor as well.

“When the police were removing his corpse, blood was dripping from his mouth and nostrils. He was murdered in cold blood.”

A friend of the victim, who did not identify himself, said his relative had visited the community.

“I can’t say why he was killed. Nobody knows. He just returned from a visit to the village,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

She added that the police had already arrested two suspects in connection with the death.

She said, “The chairman of one of the estates reported that at about 7am, he woke up and saw the victim lying lifeless with injuries on his head and body. The corpse was deposited at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Two suspects, Suleiman Ahmed and Ibrahim Yusuf, were arrested and the case transferred to the SCIID for further investigation.”

#EdoDecides: Abdulmutallab, US Bomber’s Portrait, Name Appears In Voters’ Register

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who was jailed in the United States in 2012  for terrorism offences has appeared on the voters’ register in Edo state.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole drew attention to the existence of  AbdulMuttalab’s  portrait in a fake voters register now in circulation.
A high stake governorship election is due in the state tomorrow, with the All Progressives Congress candidate, Godwin Obaseki locked against Pastor Ize Iyamu of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Oshiomhole spoke about AbdulMutallab  during a visit to him by the United States Consul General in Lagos, Mr F John Bray.
The Edo governor said he was shocked to see the portrait of the “underwear bomber” in the fake register, but with a Benin name.
Abdulmutallab was convicted of attempting on December 25, 2009. to detonate explosives hidden in his underwear on board an airline from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan.
Governor Oshiomhole who raised concern about the duplication of the voter’s register by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said “the foundation for credible election is the voter’s register. Once the voter’s register is manipulated, then you have problems.

I Killed My 2 Sisters and 114 babies for 500billion- Sakawa Boy, Nana Wan

He is Nana Wan, aka Mr Wealth and he has a Lamborghini, Range Rover, Chrysler, BMW X6 and more in his garage. Go to Madina and his name is the one name which moves Sakawa Boys. It is more like everyone wants to be like Nana Wan. According to him, he killed his 2 sisters, son and some 114 babies to make 500billion old cedis in a week. He is the Chairman/C.E.O of Waife Group Of Companies and the president of the biggest movement 2hype music & clothing. As it turns out, he evil deeds has caught up with him and this is how Ghbase.Com reported his sakawa deals.

Nana Wan confessed at the Resurrection Power Chapel, Weija that his wealth was not real and that they were all given to him by a Marine spirit from the underworld. Confessing how he got into the act, Nana Wan who was very emotional and full of remorse disclosed that, he was pushed into the act because his father abandoned his mother and his 5 other siblings some 6 years ago and times were very hard for him. He couldn’t bare the pain his mother had to go through to cater for all six of them, as the mother kept running into debts after debts. He wanted to do something in his will to save his family from disgrace so he seeked counsel from one elderly man he went to stay with and he assured him that he could help him with his financial woes if he was ready to do what it takes.

According to him, he was desperate at the time and accepted the man’s offer and he followed the man and 11 other people to some place in Benin. According to him, the place was an Island and as they sat in the boat going to the place, a room emerged from nowhere and an old man welcomed them, telling them he knew what had brought them there.

He said that they were led into a room, where a Mermaid (maame water) came and told them to drop Ghc1,500 on the floor for the rituals to begin. He disclosed that a crocodile came to pick their monies away and when the crocodile does not bring back the money, then it meant, they were qualified to go through the next step.

( The Mermaid did something again but we can’t put that here for now so we would fast forward the story) Those of them who survived the other stage of the ritual were then asked to go back and find any kind of job to do for a week and that, they would receive money after the week.

He disclosed that, he worked with a woman who sold kelewele in their neighborhood for the week and then when the time was up, he quitted the job

His other colleagues who went with him informed him that they had received their money. He had his big Ghana-Must Go bag in his room that faithful day waiting for his money to come. After several minutes of waiting, he felt a strong wind blowing in the room and then a very beautiful woman from the underworld asked him how much he wanted. He mentioned that, the woman was the first daughter of the Mermaid and she expressed interest in him. He requested for 200Billion old cedis and the Mermaid asked him to leave the room and come back after some time. He came back after some 30 minutes to see the amount he had requested for in the bag.

He was more than overjoyed and decided to leave the house that night after telling his mum, he wanted to go stay with a friend so there can be enough space for his other siblings in the chamber and hall apartment.

That was the beginning of wealth for him. He disclosed that, every week he got another 200 Billion old cedis and the first daughter of the mermaid would visit him every week for several sexual bouts. He mentioned that, she was like any normal human being but very very beautiful and he even went out with her several times. For the first 3 years, he performed no rituals and lived life to the fullest, getting his wealth increased every week. After the 3 years, that was when the horror started….

Nana Wan disclosed that, after the first 3 years, the goddess started making demands that he needs to make some sacrifices or he would die just like the other people he started with who had already died. The goddess demanded that he brought her new babies every two months for the rituals.

He said he bought the babies from a nurse who helped her at the 37 Military Hospital for 1 billion cedis each. He bought 114 new babies for the rituals within a certain period until he was unable to get the babies anymore because the nurse said she was tired of stealing babies for him.

He then pleaded with the goddess to change the sacrifice he has to make for him and she accepted and asked that he sleep with her 20 times a day from Friday to

Monday, if he still needed to be alive. He further disclosed that, the goddess told him, she wasn’t satisfied with the sex and that she wants 40 times a day from Friday to Monday.

It became a very herculean task for him as he lost soo much weight satisfying the goddess and she wouldn’t let him stop till he started bleeding from the pe*is.

He then pleaded again with the goddess to do something about it since, he was getting weaker. The goddess then asked him to bring people who are very close to him as a sacrifice in exchange for his life. First he took his own son who was then just a baby and after sometime he was asked to bring one of his sisters. He took his eldest sister who was their first born. He bought her a brand new range rover and after some 3 weeks, she had a fatal accident and she died.

After sometime, the goddess asked her to bring another sister of her. He pleaded with the goddess to take her sister’s womb so she spares her life but her other sister too was putting pressure on him to buy her a car for school.

She was a level 300 student at Legon and he bought her a range rover and she also lost her life in an accident around Okponglo. He thought the sacrifices were over until the goddess asked him to bring his mother for the rituals. He cried and begged the goddess to spare his mother’s life but to no avail. He was then instructed to buy her mom a brand new car so they take care of the rest.

Fortunately, the mother received a prophesy in church that his son would buy her a car and that if he brings it, she shouldn’t take it. So when she bought the car for the mother, she rejected it.

It was his failure to bring her mother for the ritual that he was informed that he had just one month to live. He confessed that, he started searching for salvation when he was told he had 1 month to live. According to him, he moved from one church to the other visiting all the big churches and men of God in the country to see if he can be saved.

He confessed that the goddess kept haunting him each time he visits any church. He even revealed that, he met some big and powerful men of God at the underworld when they go for meetings. ( We would tell you the story of how he ended at Resurrection Power Chapel)

His story was very lengthy and we would tell you more about the things he said and the other many things he had to do like what he does each time he sleeps with other girls.

He was supposed to die on Monday but he has been saved and delivered and we are working hard to get more info. He’s now a born again Christian and the power in the name Jesus has saved him.

He’s going to lose all of his assets and everything he ever bought with the evil money. We all can take a cue from this and refrain from such evil activities. There’s no need to rush in life. So far as there’s life, there’s hope

CHIBOK GIRLS: PRESIDENT BUHARI INVITES U.N AS NEGOTIATOR

As a show of commitment to swapping the abducted schoolgirls from Chibok with Boko Haram fighters in custody, President Muhammadu Buhari has told the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, that Nigeria would welcome intermediaries from the global body.

Speaking during a bilateral meeting with the UN scribe at the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York, President Buhari said the Nigerian government was willing to bend over backwards, to get the Chibok girls released from captivity.

"The challenge is in getting credible and bona fide leadership of Boko Haram to discuss with," the President said, adding that, "The split in the insurgent group is not helping matters. Government had reached out, ready to negotiate, but it became difficult to identify credible leaders. We will welcome intermediaries such as UN outfits, to step in.”

The President reiterated that the teachings of Boko Haram were far from being Islamic, as neither Islam, nor any other religion, advocates hurting the weak and innocent.
"The fact that they kill men, women, children, and other people wantonly, and shout Allahu Akbar (God is great) shows that they do not know that Allah at all. If they did, they would not shed innocent blood," President Buhari said.

He thanked Ban Ki-moon for the moral and material support given to Nigeria, which has enabled the country surmount many of the challenges facing her.

In his response, the UN Secretary General congratulated President Buhari on the anti-corruption war, declaring: “You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your persona has given your country a positive image.”

He said the UN recognized the achievements of the Buhari administration against Boko Haram, urging that human rights be upheld always, to prevent a repeat of the scenario being witnessed in Syria.

Ban Ki-moon also thanked the Nigerian leader for his commitment to issues on climate change, adding that the government should "own the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," for the good of its citizens.

REVEALED: How Patience Jonathan’s Accounts Were Funded With $22.3million

More revelation has surfaced on the $20 million reportedly found in the account four companies linked to first lady, Patience Jonathan.

Preliminary investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission reveals that the funds are proceeds of money laundering following the establishment of a prima facie case against the ex-First Lady and 10 others.

Apart from Mrs Patience Jonathan, whose suit at the Federal High Court claiming the ownership of the fund indicted, the 10 suspects indicted in the investigation are a former Senior Special Assistant (Domestic/Household and Social Events to the former President), Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel; Damola Bolodeoku; Dipo Oshodi; Theodora Varinik; Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Limited; Globus Integrated Services Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Skye Bank Plc.

The 10th suspect, Sompre Omiebi, is said to be on the run.

The mobile phones recovered from most of the suspects have revealed how the slush funds were wired.

A report of the investigation stumbled upon by TheNation states that: “Based on the investigation so far carried out, the four fraudulent VISA Platinum USD card accounts used by Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan has a cumulative balance of $14,029,881.79 which has been swept Post No Debit Card category.

“Again, her personal account, different from the four fraudulent VISA Platinum USD Card accounts, bears the balance of $5,841,426.17.

“Considering the above stated findings, we can safely conclude that a prima facie case of conspiracy to retain proceeds of unlawful activities, retention of the proceeds of unlawful activities, money laundering, contrary to Section 15(3) and 18(a) of the Money Laundering ( Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012 and forgery contrary to Section 1(2) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act,  Cap M17, Laws of the Federation, 2004 have been established against the aforementioned suspects.”

The EFCC claimed that all the funds traced to Mrs Jonathan’s accounts were proceeds of gratification.

The report said: “The intelligence revealed that Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel fraudulently received various sums of money, being proceeds of gratification and retained same on behalf of the then First Family and for himself .

“In committing the alleged offence, Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel, in grand conspiracy with one Sompre Omiebi and Mrs. Patience Jonathan, procured the services of Mr. Dipo Oshodi, Miss Theodora Vavrinik and Mr. Damola Bolodeoku of Skye Bank Plc to launder and retain the proceeds of their unlawful activities.

“On receipt of the intelligence report, letters of investigation activities were sent to the Corporate Affairs Commission, relevant banks , communication companies, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Chief of Staff to the President, Federal Road Safety Corps and the mobile phones recovered from suspects were analysed.

“Also, the employees of various banks whose names featured, together with Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel, were interviewed and a search carried out . Some of the purported directors and signatories to the said companies were arrested and interviewed.”

The report explained that the accumulation of the gratification funds started in 2013 with the registration of four fake firms.

The report added: “In 2013, the principal suspect, Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel, in grand conspiracy with Sompre Omiebi and Barr. Amajuoye Azubuike fraudulently registered the following companies: (a) Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; (b) Trans Ocean  Property and Investment Company Limited; (c) Globus Integrated Service Limited; ( d) Seagate Property Development and Investment Limited.

“That after the fraudulent registration, the principal suspect, Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel, conspired with Sompre Omiebi and three officials of the Skye Bank Plc, namely Dipo Oshodi, Theodora Varinik and Damola Bolodeoku, to fraudulently open current and VISA Platinum Credit Card ( USD) accounts for the companies.

“That in opening account Nos: 1771420773 and 2110002238 for Pluto Property and Investment and Company Limited in Skye Bank Plc, Dr. Dudafa Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel, Sompre Omiebi and Skye Bank officials, namely Dipo Oshodi, Theodora Varinik and Damola Bolodeoku, also fraudulently used the details of one Friday Davies and Toru Inoyengibuomo( who have been found to be staff of NIMASA) .

“That all the driver’s licences used as a means of identification of the purported signatories have been found to be forged.

“That all these fraudulent accounts were opened with the consent of Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

“Furthermore, investigation has revealed that all VISA Platinum USD cards in respect of the above mentioned accounts were picked up by Mr. Dipo Oshodi and Damola Bolodeoku of Skye Bank Plc from the bank and handed over to Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan.”

EFCC detectives gave the breakdown of how funds were wired into nine USD accounts  believed to have been opened with fraudulent names and operated by Mrs. Jonathan.

The report said: “That looking at the various Visa Platinum USD Card accounts, the sum of $5,114,609.00 were lodged into the account of  Globus Integrated Services Limited out of which the sum of $753,206.76 has been spent by Mrs. Patience Jonathan, leaving a balance of $4,361,393.24, which is currently on Post No Debit Status.

Sallah: Five killed in Lagos- Ibadan Expressway crash

No fewer than five people have lost their lives, while 15 others were injured after two vehicles had a head-on collision at the Ogunmakin end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.

Our correspondent learnt that the accident, which happened around 4pm, involved a Mazda bus, with number plate, KSF 477 XK, and a Mitsubishi space wagon car, with number plate, MUS 639 DK.

It was learnt that the commercial bus was heading for Ibadan, Oyo State, while the car, which had two occupants, was heading towards Lagos State.

Our correspondent gathered that the bus driver, who was at top speed, crashed into the car while attempting to overtake at an intersection where construction works were being done on the road.

The five victims comprised the drivers of the two vehicles, and three passengers in the bus, including a child.

While the remains of the victims were deposited at the SOS Mortuary, Ipara, our correspondent learnt that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps took the injured to Ife-Oluwa Hospital and Ibadan Centre Hospital.

The accident was said to have caused gridlock on the expressway, which was later cleared by the traffic officers and some policemen attached to the Ogun State Police Command.

The FRSC Commander, Ogunmakin Unit, David Ogunjana, confirmed that the accident was caused by speeding, adding that the driver of the Mazda bus had been warned by other motorists, but he refused to heed the warning.

He said, “The commercial bus was taking some Muslims to Ibadan; it was a loaded bus. The Mitsubishi car was coming to Lagos and there were two people in it. Because of the public holiday, the traffic was light.

“The bus driver was attempting to overtake the car at a section of the expressway where construction is ongoing. He, however, miscalculated and ram into it. The bus driver and that of the private car died on the spot. Two passengers sitting beside the commercial bus driver also died. A woman, sitting at the back of the driver, was also killed.

“While we were clearing the wreckage, some motorists, who met us at the scene, said they had warned the bus driver to reduce his speed, but he refused to listen to them. They said he made abusive gestures at them and continued speeding till he killed himself and other people.

“The accident was avoidable because the road was free and there was no reason for him to speed. Some of the passengers said they were going to their hometown to celebrate the Sallah with their family members.”

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Ogun State, Mr. Adegoke Adetunji, said the vehicles had been towed away from the scene.

He said, “The accident happened at about 3.45pm. A total of 20 people were involved. Among them, five died and 15 sustained injuries. Among the dead were three male adults, one woman and a child. The injured were taken to Ife-Oluwa Hospital and Ibadan Centre Hospital and the vehicles towed away to restore traffic flow.  Drivers are advised to be patient and avoid wrongful overtaking as they drive through the construction area.”

The breakdown of the sum showed that N2.3bn was released for PAF by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation between May and November 2015.

That figure included releases for personnel costs, overheads and capital expenditures; out of the N5.19bn appropriated for PAF in the 2015 budget.

Of the sum, the Presidency said N99.715m was spent on aircraft maintenance, spares and subscription services.

The sum of N98.5m was also spent on operations; N165.373m on training and N85.5m on personnel medicals and overheads.

During the period, the document claimed that PAF spent N1.350bn to settle outstanding liabilities carried over from 2014 while N500m was refunded to the NSA for financial support rendered for the maintenance of the Fleet prior to release of funds.

According to findings from aviation experts, however, the Federal Government may have spent about N19.9bn on the 10-aircraft PAF in the last 15 months of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The large-size PAF inherited from the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration is the second largest airline in the country, coming after Arik Air which has 23 aircraft in its fleet.

According to experts’ estimated projections of expenses made in line with the cost of running and maintaining airplanes, about $65.13m (N19.9bn), using the official exchange rate of N305.5 per dollar, may have been spent on the 10-aicraft presidential fleet between May 29, 2015 and August 29, 2016.

According to the Presidency, the PAF contains 10 aircraft. These are: Boeing Business Jet (Boeing 737-800 or AirForce One), one Gulfstream 550, one Gulfstream V (Gulfstream 500), two Falcons 7X, one Hawker Sidley 4000, two AgustaWestland AW 139 helicopters and two AgustaWestland AW 101 helicopters. Each of the two Falcon 7X jets were purchased in 2010 by the Federal Government for $51.1m, while the Gulfstream 550 costs $53.3m, a former Minister of Information, the late Pro. Dora Akunyili, had said.

The price of other aircraft in the fleets could not be ascertained. But according toWikipedia, price.wescrawler. com and airline executives, the factory price of other aircraft in the fleet are: Boeing Business Jet, $59m; HS 4000, $22.9m; AgustaWestland 139, $12m; and AgusatWestland 101, $21m.

This brings a combined estimated value of Nigeria’s PAF to $347.4m (N106.13bn).

According to airline chief executives and industry experts, airlines spend between 15 and 20 per cent of the cost of an aircraft on its operation yearly.

They explained that averagely, a little less than one-fifth of the cost of the plane is spent every year on insurance, flight and cabin crew, maintenance, fuelling, catering and training.

Using a conservative percentage of 15 per cent, it means that about $52.11m (N15.92bn) must have been spent on the presidential fleet by May 29, 2016.

A quarter of the annual maintenance cost ($52.11 or N15.92bn) would also have been spent to maintain the 10-aircraft in the presidential fleet in three months after May 29, if the Federal Government followed experts’ recommendation on maintenance of its air fleet.

This means that between June and August this year, an additional $13.02m (N3.98bn) would have been spent in principle to maintain the 10-aicraft presidential fleet.

It means, all things being equal, between May 29, 2015 and August 29, 2016 (15 months), the Presidency would have spent $65.13m (N19.9bn) to maintain the 10-aicraft presidential fleet.

Though the amount ought to have been N12.8bn, the depreciation of the naira from 197/dollar to 305.5/dollar at the official interbank market raised the amount to N19.9bn. This indicates an increase of 45 per cent.

Aviation experts told Saturday PUNCH that depreciation in naira value had made the cost of maintaining airplanes to go up astronomically.

This, they argued, was because airline and aircraft maintenance expenses were denominated in dollars.

They therefore urged the President o reduce the size of the PAF as soon as possible.

The General Secretary, Aviation Round Table, an industry pressure group, Group Captain John Ojikutu, said Buhari needed to reduce the PAF and sell aircraft belonging to most of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

He said, “It is high time the Presidency reduced the number of aircraft in that fleet. We can’t be spending our scarce forex to maintain a large fleet of 10 aircraft.”

A few weeks after his inauguration, Buhari had reportedly ordered the immediate disposal of some of the planes in the PAF.

However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, later denied knowledge of such directive.

“The story of the order for the sale of aircraft in the Presidential Fleet, about which so much interest is being expressed, is not known to us,” Shehu had said.

Other aviation experts and Nigerians had called on the President to reduce the fleet.

A former Assistant General Secretary, Airline Operators of Nigeria, Mr. Muhammed Tukur, said the aircraft could be sold to both airline operators and private individuals who could use them for commercial purposes.

He said that this could generate more revenue and create jobs.

Nigeria happens to be one of the few countries with a large PAF.

Most major countries in Europe and Asia maintain two aircraft in their PAF. According to Wikipedia, Japan maintains only two Boeing 747-400 planes in its PAF.

Netherlands government operates only two aircraft, a Fokker 70 and Gulfstream IV to transport the Dutch Royal family and government officials such as the Prime Minister and other ministers.

The Queen of England and the UK’s Prime Ministers often go on British Airways chartered flights for long trips.

Countries like Ghana, Algeria and a host of others in Africa maintain only one aircraft in their PAF.

Reacting to the development, Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said spending a whopping N5bn on maintenance of 10 aircraft at a time when many states “cannot pay salaries and dozens of families going hungry across most parts of the country is insensitive and a hallmark of an anti-people regime.”

While condemning the All Progressives Party-led Federal Government for engaging in the same ‘sins’ it accused the ousted Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for, Adeniran said the high level of waste on the part of the government in the face of hunger wasn’t what Nigerians yearned for while electing Buhari.

He said, “Spending that type of money on maintenance of aircraft is not the best at this time. It is profligacy, it is unnecessary and smacks of insensitivity on the part of the regime that is supposed to effect positive change in the lives of the people.

“A few days ago the Federal Government launched the ‘Change begins with me’ campaign but I disagree with the government that because it is like shifting the goalpost to Nigerians. This administration has not shown us that it has good plans. All the policies that have been implemented so far – both fiscal and monetary – are anti-people. This is not the type of government that we yearned for.

“They criticised Goodluck Jonathan of keeping a large fleet of aircraft but they are also doing the same thing. I think Buhari is alone in his anti-corruption fight because most of his cabinet members have not been able to detach themselves from the lifestyle of the past regime.

A former Governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, said President Buhari administration “is as wasteful as the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.”

He also asked the President to sell some of the jets in order to minimise wastage.“They should sell off some of the jets in order to reduce wastage of our economic resources and also to demonstrate the change they are talking about,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Presidential Garba Shehu, hinted that there was a committee already deliberating on trimming the presidential fleet.

He made the revelation in a reaction to a tweet by blogger, Japheth Omojuwa, who asked why the Presidency has yet to reduce the 10 aircraft on its fleet.

“There is a government committee already in place, working to reduce the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet,” Shehu said.

I PITIED MY BOSS AFTER STABBING HER, SO I PUT ON THE AIR CONDITIONER TO COOL OFF HER BODY —VGC MURDER SUSPECT

The maxim that one can only run but not hide forever was brought to bear on 22-year-old Tanko Abdullateef, a security guard, who allegedly killed his female boss, Ms Mabel Okafor, whom he was employed to protect, when he was arrested in Taraba State, far away from Lagos State where he carried out the act.

The arrest was made by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos, after the challenge of the task of arresting the suspected murderer was thrown at the Commander of the RRS, ACP Tunji Disu by the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni and the state government.

In August, the Nigerian media was awash with the story of how the suspect was reported to have stabbed his 50-year-old boss, Mabel Okafor, in her apartment at No J68B, Close 9, Victoria Garden City in the Lekki-Ajah area on August 17, 2016, after which he ran to his village, Bali Community in Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State. He had barely spent two weeks at his job when he killed his boss.

The body of the woman was said to have been discovered after she was not seen at a meeting she was to have with some top government functionaries. Calls put through to her phone lines were also not connecting.

This was said to have made some people to go to her house to find out what was happening. On getting there, they were said to have noticed that water was dropping from the air conditioning panel outside. The people were said to have peeped through an opening they noticed, only to see her body lying on the floor of her living room.

A source told the Saturday Tribune that Abdullateef was suspected to have put on the air conditioner to preserve the remains of the deceased woman so that it would not quickly decompose and stink afterwards. This it was believed would give him the opportunity to have gone out of reach before the body would be discovered.

But the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, who started working on Abdullateef after he committed the crime, tracked him to his village where they spent about three days before his arrest on Saturday, August 27.

In an interview with Saturday Tribune, Abdullateef narrated how the murder was carried out sequentially.

According to the 22-year-old man, “I was in Lagos State in 2014 and worked as a security man but went back to my state. I returned to Lagos during Ramadan this year.

“I got a job with the deceased when her former security guard left. One of our kinsmen learnt about the madam’s search for another security guard and informed me. The former security man wanted to present me to her but had to give me her phone number when she did not return home in time on the day he was leaving.

“Eventually, I was able to secure the job. She placed me on a salary of N18,000 monthly and gave me a room to live in. I had worked less than two weeks by the time I killed her. I had yet to receive salary but she once gave me N1000 to eat.

“I can say that as this thing (killing) happened, it was the devil that got into me, because I never believed that I could kill a human being. On the day it happened, my boss returned home at almost 8.30p.m. She went to her room and later called me.

“She had earlier broken some branches of overgrown flowers within the premises. She asked me whether I did not allow DISCO officials to enter her compound when they had no means of identification and I replied her that I did not. She then asked me to go and trim the flower branches.

“At the time she called me, I had a knife in my hand to cut onions and pepper to prepare my dinner, and as she opened her door and gave the instruction, I just felt a spirit passed through my body. The next was that I stabbed her and I found her on the floor.

“I stabbed her two times but I don’t really know I did it. As she fell, she looked at me and called my name repeatedly: ‘Abdul, Abdul.” I said ‘sorry Ma.’ I lifted her legs and straightened them on the floor by the three-sitter in the sitting room. I noticed blood stained her dress and the knife I used.

“I pitied her as she called my name so I went to put on the air conditioner so that it would blow directly at her body. I left for her room which I ransacked to pick some trinkets and clothes. I went back to the living room to pick her phones and N10,000 from her purse which was there.

“One of the security men close by heard her when she screamed in pain after I stabbed her, so he came to knock on the gate to enquire what was wrong. But I dismissed him by telling him not to mind my boss, as she was only scared by the sight of a cockroach.

“I went to the boy’s quarters to talk to a man (name withheld) living at the Boy’s Quarters. When I got to him, I saw that he was busy watching football and when I noticed that he was not aware of what happened in the sitting room, I turned back and went to my room.

“I started putting my things together with the plan to run away the following morning. I threw the knife I used over the fence on to an undeveloped plot of land beside my madam’s house. I have taken police to the place.

“I left the house at about 5a.m. the following morning for Taraba State. My people did not ask me questions about my return since I had once gone and returned. I sold the trinkets to two people at N3,000 each and kept the rest for myself. I kept some of the clothes and gave others to my friend. I told them I bought the dresses for sale. I sold her phone for N20,000.”

Speaking on his arrest, Abdullateef said he was in his room in his village when RRS operatives came to arrest him. “They had earlier arrested my sister and she led them to my room. My kinsmen were very angry when they heard the story and they started raining insults and curses on me,” he said.

When asked of the offence of his boss that made him kill her, the suspect replied: “Walahi, my boss didn’t offend me; it was the devil that pushed me into such action.” He however pleaded for pardon, saying that he would never do such again.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune on the suspect, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the recovery of some of the deceased’s belongings taken away by the suspect. He stated further that the suspect had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for investigations which had yielded more revelations. He added that the suspect would be arraigned in court after the completion of investigations into the case.

LG Salaries: Governor Ahmed Approves Release of N250m For August Salaries

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the release of N250 million as augmentation for local councils in the State to enable them pay their workers’ August, 2016 salaries in full.

According to the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, the governor gave the approval on arrival from Abuja this evening, following the verification of the figures provided by the 16 LG chairmen in the State.
Alhaji Banu said with the approval, the local councils will start receiving the money as from tomorrow (Friday) morning after all necessary documentations are completed . He also expressed optimism that the LG workers will start getting their salary tomorrow (today).

The Commissioner noted that the N250 million will be shared among the local governments based on their specific shortfall in August allocation.
Alhaji Banu expressed optimism that the current financial crisis facing all tiers of government in the country will soon be a thing of the past, while also urging the LG workers to be patient with their respective council authorities while the payments are processed.

It will be recalled that Governor Ahmed while meeting with LG chairmen and officials of the State chapter of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on Tuesday, expressed the willingness of the State government to assist the local councils to meet their salary on a need by need basis.

Look: The Internet Hate That Brought Gabby Douglas to Tears The gymnast's mom even had to step in and defend her daughter.

Social media has zero chill whatsoever and Gabrielle Douglas is feeling the full effects of that.

As a member of Team USA's historic Final Five gymnastics squad, the three-time gold medal winner candidly explained how Internet slander — whether it's about her hair or not covering her heart with her hand during the National Anthem — has taken a toll on her emotionally.

"I tried to stay off the internet because there's just so much negativity," a teary-eyed Douglas told the media over the weekend, as reported by ESPN. "Either it was about my hair or my hand not over my heart [on the medal podium] or I look depressed. It was hurtful. It was hurtful. It was. It's been kind of a lot to deal with."

As the 20-year-old alluded to, Twitter and Instagram trolls have been dragging Gabby about her hairstyle over the course of these Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Then, when the Final Five won the team competition handedly last week, Douglas was criticized for putting her hands to her sides and not covering her heart during the National Anthem of the squad's gold medal ceremony.

The backlash drove Gabby to issue an apology, even though Michael Phelps didn't receive criticism for laughing during the National Anthem of one of his gold medal ceremonies nor did countless male athletes for not covering their hearts over the years.

Of course, the internet could care less about someone's feelings. Terrible.

That being said, Douglas's mom, Natalie Hawkins, is absolutely sick and tired of her daughter getting treated this way on social media.

"She's had to deal with people criticizing her hair, or people accusing her of bleaching her skin. They said she had breast enhancements, they said she wasn't smiling enough, she's unpatriotic," Hawkins told Reuters. "Then it went to not supporting your teammates. Now you're ‘Crabby Gabby.' You name it and she got trampled. What did she ever do to anyone?"

Sadly, there are unhealthy portions of the internet who feel good about themselves by putting others down.

We hope Gabby will learn how to deal with these online bullies.

After all, there's a good chance that they will never reach her level of greatness.

Driver steals UNILAG lecturer’s ATM card, withdraws N2.7m

A driver, Mayowa Adenuga, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing his boss’ Automated Teller Machine card and withdrawing over N2.7m.

Also arrested were suspected accomplices in the crime – Adewale Opeyemi, 18, and Jeremiah Iyitoye, 29.

PUNCH Metro gathered that 25-year-old Adenuga, who is also a computer expert, was employed as a driver by a lecturer at UNILAG, Prof. Simbo Banjoko.

It was learnt that the suspect had driven Banjoko to the Bells University on the day of the incident.

While waiting for his boss on the university premises, the driver found Banjoko’s Zenith Bank ATM card in the car and hid it.

Our correspondent gathered that when the victim did not notice that his ATM card was missing, Adenuga used software to uncover the card’s PIN code.

After withdrawing N200,000 from the bank account through the ATM, he allegedly bought four iPhones, valued at N495,000; one Macbook laptop, valued at N415,000; 10 wristwatches, a Blackberry and a ring.

It was learnt that a total of N2,728,255 was withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.

The theft of the ATM card was said to have been referred to the Rapid Response Squad, which later transferred the case to the Anti-Vice Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

A source said the prime suspect, Adenuga, perfected the crime by blocking his boss’ telephone line so that he would not see the alert of transactions conducted on his account.

He said, “The suspect is the lecturer’s driver. He is also a computer expert. He hid the ATM card for three days and when he saw that the man did not look for it, he used software to get the PIN.  He called Adewale (Opeyemi) and handed over the card to him for safekeeping, saying it belonged to his sister.

“When he drove his boss out again at another time, he had access to the man’s phone and deliberately entered the wrong PUK number three times which led to the blockage of the line.”

Our correspondent was told that having succeeded in blocking the line, the suspect contacted Opeyemi and linked him up with another friend, Iyitoye.

He allegedly asked the duo to make transactions with the card on his behalf.

The two men were said to have gone to Shoprite, Ikeja, and Mega Plaza, Victoria Island, where they withdrew N200,000 and purchased the iPhones, Macbook laptop, wristwatches and other items through POS transactions.

It was gathered that the loot was shared among the three men.

A police source explained that Banjoko, who noticed that his telephone line had been blocked, took it to a telecoms centre, where it was reactivated.

“At that point, he received 30 alerts that a total of N2,728,255 had been withdrawn from his account. He reported the matter to the police, and the case was transferred to the RRS.

“When the matter got to the Anti-Vice Section of the SCIID, the police arrested the driver and after interrogation, he confessed to the crime and named his accomplices.

“The police recovered two iPhones 6S Plus, two iPhones SSE, one Macbook laptop, seven GT Shock wristwatches, one Blackberry Z10, one ring and two bags,” the source added.

The suspects were arraigned at the Yaba Magistrate’s Court on two counts of stealing.

The charge read in part, “That you, Mayowa Adenuga, Adewale Opeyemi and Jeremiah Iyitoye, on July 2, 2016, on Olanireti Fesan Street, Magodo, Isheri, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal the sum of N2,728,255 only, property of one Professor Simbo Banjoko.”

The police said the offence was punishable under sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Erinle, admitted them to bail in the sum of N800,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She added that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendants, who must be a landlord within the jurisdiction of the court.

The case was adjourned till October 17, 2016

READ; President Muhammadu Buhari's Speech during #ChangeBeginsWithMe Campaign Launch

SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI, AT THE LAUNCH OF THE NATIONAL RE-ORIENTATION CAMPAIGN, CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME, AT THE BANQUET HALL OF THE STATE HOUSE, ABUJA, ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH 2016
PROTOCOLS:

I welcome you all to this important occasion of the launching of the National Re-orientation Campaign, called ‘Change Begins With Me’. Nigeria today is passing through a challenging moment where hardly anything works in a normal manner. Many have attributed this phenomenon to the total breakdown of our core values over the years.

2.     It is safe to say today that honesty, hard work, Godliness have given way to all kinds of manifestations of lawlessness and degeneration in our national life. This is why we have among our cardinal objectives ‘change’, which implies the need for a change of attitude and mindset in our everyday life.

3     I need not mention the serious effort we have engaged in since the inception of this administration on the fight against corruption in our public life. With the progress we have so far made in that regard, we feel the need to ensure that we   put in place the necessary sustainable framework for action and measures that will help to entrench and consolidate the progress achieved so far.

4.   This we believe can best be maintained through attitudinal change, and the change of our mindset in private and public life.   The campaign we are about to launch today is all about the need for us to see change not merely in terms of our economic, social progress but in terms of our personal behaviour on how we conduct ourselves, engage our neigbhours, friends and generally how we relate with the larger society in a positive and definitive way and manner that promotes our common good and common destiny, change at home, change in the work place, change at traffic junction, change at traffic lights etc.

5.   This campaign is part of the determination of our party to seek to carry all Nigerians along on the journey to a better and greater society that we all can be proud of.

6.   There is no doubt that our value system has been badly eroded over the years. The long-cherished and time honoured, time-tested virtues of honesty, integrity, hard work, punctuality, good neighbourliness, abhorrence of corruption and patriotism, have given way in the main to dishonesty, indolence, unbridled corruption and widespread impunity.

7.   The resultant effect of this derailment in our value system is being felt in the social, political and economic sphere. It is the reason that some youths will take to cultism and brigandage instead of studying hard or engaging in decent living; it is the reason that some elements will break pipelines and other oil facilities, thus robbing the nation of much-needed resources; it is the reason that money belonging to our commonwealth will be brazenly stolen by the same public officials to whom they were entrusted; it is the reason why motorist drive through red traffic lights, it is the reason that many will engage in thuggery and vote-stealing during elections;  it is part of what has driven our economy into deep problem out of which we are now working hard to extricate ourselves. Every one of us must have a change from our old ways of doing things, we cannot fold our arms and allow things to continue the old way.

8.    We must resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship, pettiness and immaturity that have poisoned our country for so long. Let us summon a new spirit of responsibility, spirit of service, of patriotism and sacrifice, Let us all resolve to pitch in and work hard and look after, not only ourselves but one another, What the current problem has taught us is that we cannot have a thriving army of rent seekers and vested interests, while the majority suffers.

9.   Rather than sit back and complain endlessly, we have decided to act pragmatically, with the launch of this National Re-orientation Campaign. The campaign will not be a sprint but a marathon that will run the course of our tenure. We are under no illusion that the changes we seek will happen overnight, but we have no doubt that the campaign will help restore our value system and rekindle our nationalistic fervor

10.   I am therefore appealing to all Nigerians to be part of this campaign. Our citizens must realize that the change they want to see begins with them, and that personal and social reforms are not theoretic exercise. If you have not seen the change in you, you cannot see it in others or even the larger society. In other words, before you ask ‘where is the change they promised us’, you must first ask how far have I changed my ways ‘what have I done to be part of the change for the greater good of society’.

11.   While the government will drive the Change Begins With Me’ campaign, it must be strongly supported by all concerned individually. In this regard the private sector is a major stakeholder. Indeed when the campaign succeeds, it will impact heavily on the private sector. A punctual, diligent and hardworking staff can only be of benefit of not just himself or herself or the organization they work for but to various governments whether at local, state or Federal level.

12.   While congratulating the stakeholders, especially Ministry of Information and Culture and the National Orientation Agency for conceiving this campaign, I charge all to pursue the campaign with vigour and ensure its sustenance by taking it to all the nook and crannies of this country, with the aim of getting the buy in of the old, the young, the rich, the poor irrespective of gender or other social positions.

 13.  Your Excellencies, Honourable Ministers, Members of the National Assembly, Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now my pleasure to formally launch and handover the instrument of the Change Campaign tagged Change Begins With Me to the Honourable Minister for Information and Culture, for transmission to all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.  Indeed I say to the glory of Mighty Allah, “Change Begins With Me”

14. Thank you all for your kind attention

FG okays loans from World Bank, China, Japan

The Federal Government has approved plans for external loans from the World Bank, China and Japan.

It specifically said Nigeria would take loans from institutions such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Export-Import Bank of China, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.

This will include low-cost and long-term loans with interest rates of 1.25 per cent and maturity of 20 years, according to comments posted on its Twitter.

The Federal Government said that details of a proposed Eurobond due later this year would be announced “in due course.”

According to the Presidency, the government is now waiting for lawmakers to approve the plans.

President Muhammadu Buhari had announced a N6.1tn ($19.4bn) spending plan aimed at stimulating the economy this year. The economy contracted in the first two quarters as oil revenue plunged.

Buhari said he expected the Federal Government to raise about $5bn from the Eurobond market and multilateral and bilateral lenders.

The Debt Management Office had last month asked banks to place bids by September 19 if they wished to manage a $1bn Eurobond sale.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, told bond investors in London in June that Nigeria was close to securing about $3bn of funding from the World Bank and African Development Bank.

Nigeria had issued dollar bonds twice, the last time in 2013. Yields on its $500m of securities due in July 2023 fell 11 basis points to 6.24 per cent, their lowest level since June 2015 and down more than 300 basis points since hitting a record 9.4 per cent on January 18, Bloomberg reported.

ICPC arraigns Orubebe over N1.97b fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) yesterday said it had arraigned former Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godsday Orubebe, before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, in Maitama District in Abuja, for alleged N1.97 billlion fraud.

The commission accused Orubebe of allegedly diverting the votes meant for the compensation of owners of properties on Eket Urban section of the East-West Road in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

Orubebe, who had failed twice to appear in court, is facing a six-count charge before Justice Olukayode Adeniyi.

He is on trial with an Assistant Director at the Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs, Mr. Oludare Davis Alaba, and the Director of Contracts, Gitto Costruzioni Generali Nig. Ltd., Mr. Ephraim Towede Zari.

A statement by ICPC spokesperson Mrs. Rasheedat Okoduwa quoted counsel to ICPC Mr. Ekoi Akpos, as saying that  the offences contravened sections 25 (i), (b); 19, 22(5); of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and Sections 96, 312 and 323 of the Penal Code laws of FCT 2006.

Part of the charge reads:  “Diverting the sum of N1, 965,576,153.46 out of the sum of N2, 320,686,826.00 initially released by the Federal Government meant for the compensation of owners of properties on Eket Urban section of the East- West Road.

“Conferring unfair advantage upon Gitto Costruzioni Generali Nig. Ltd, by circumventing the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the dualization of the Eket Urban road  where the former Minister`s decision to rehabilitate the road instead of dualization  falls contrary to the award letter No.WR14522/VOL.1/55 dated 28/09/2006 as approved by the FEC; and making false statements to operatives of the ICPC where he mentioned in his  written statement that the decision to rehabilitate the Eket Urban road was taken after he had left office as Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs.’ The ex-Minister and the co-accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when read to them.

“Their counsel, F. Zimuan, representing Orubebe, K. Asunogie, representing Alaba and Kanu Agabi (SAN), representing Zari, who is a Lebanese, pleaded with the court to grant their clients bail on liberal terms. Zimuan specifically urged the court to grant Orubebe bail on self- recognition, having served as a minister.

Justice Adeniyi admitted the ex-Minister to bail in the sum of N10 million and a surety who must be resident in Abuja, with evidence of three years tax clearance.

He admitted Alaba to bail in the sum of N20 million and a surety who must be an employee of the Federal Government not below the rank of an assistant director.

The third accused Mr. Zari, was granted bail by the judge in the sum of N20 million and one surety who must be resident in Abuja, under the jurisdiction of the court.

Justice Adeniyi ruled at the end of the arraignment that all the accused persons be kept in ICPC custody pending the fulfillment of their bail applications and then adjourned the case to 10th November, 2016 for hearing.

In Abuja, the nation’s capital, prostitution is a thriving business. It is a trade predominantly plied by some single ladies. There are male prostitutes, but they are in the extreme minority. Male prostitutes, unlike their female counterparts, do not adorn highways to solicit for female customers.

Abuja has major districts, cities and places where open prostitution takes place. Wuse II is notorious for that. Garki, Maitama, Jabi and a few other places also harbour a handful of daughters of Eve. In these districts, prostitutes and their clients either “relief tensions” inside their vehicles or get a cheap hotel to exchange body fluids.

But there are places in Abuja where another brand of prostitution holds sway, the slums. Abuja slums are scattered everywhere in the city. They lack basic amenities and are often times, temporal places of abode, occupied by homeless people.

The online free Wikipedia describes a slum as a heavily populated urban informal settlement characterized by substandard housing and squalor. While slums differ in size and other characteristics, most lack reliable sanitation services, supply of clean water, reliable electricity, timely law enforcement and other basic services. Slum residences vary from shanty houses to professionally built dwellings that because of poor-quality construction or provision of services have deteriorated into slums.

Disturbed by the growing complaints from Abuja residents of illicit sex activities thriving in some slums within the city, Daily Sun embarked on a fact-finding adventure to unravel the claims. The first point of call was a slum called Kado-Kuchi, just behind a popular supermarket in Jahi District. It is a small slum, but densely populated by all manners of people from every parts of the country.

The slum also serves as a sex haven where special shanties housing prostitutes abound. The irony of it all is that the slum is surrounded by porch houses and it is less than two kilometres from the Ministers’ Hill where top government officials reside. From the entrance leading to the supermarket, one can hear faint noises emanating from the small enclave.
When our correspondents visited the place, they had to abandon their vehicle halfway in order not to incur the wrath of locals who obviously appeared unfriendly. Instead, they opted for the popular Okada (motorbike), which is the common means of transportation in the area. Since they were not familiar with the unfriendly terrain, they decided to conceal their identity.

Luckily, the team of correspondents approached a male resident of the area who briefly obliged to open up on the goings-on in the slum. His name is Femi. According to him, Kado-Kuchi village is a small Sodom and Gomorrah where sex SinParties, broad day prostitution and other forms of vices thrive:

“I have been here for a while. Most of the female prostitutes you see hanging out at night in the city stay in this small village. This place takes a different shape at night. Some of these small houses here are occupied by girls who are into prostitution. During the day, some of the girls do other things. They have salons or do menial jobs in the city. But in the night, they transform into something else.

“Then for some of them who are fully into prostitution, they entertain their customers during the day. Some of the big cars you see here come to have sex. They park their cars and walk to their place to have sex. If you do not stay in this place, you may not know what is happening. But we live here and we understand these things

“Sometimes, when the men come out after sex, they have serious arguments with the girls over payment and other things. We just stay here and look. If you go round this area, you will see used condoms everywhere. Some of the girls and men do not even dispose the used condoms very well.”

Femi who hesitated to speak further, suspecting that the correspondents were security operatives, pretending to be regular customers who are in the slum to ease tension, referred us to speak with other people who may give us additional information.

Not relenting, Daily Sun approached commercial motorcyclists to enquire how they could locate the neighbourhood housing prostitutes. Interestingly, they obliged to ferry the correspondents to the exact location where the daughters of Eve reside. One of the correspondents decided to approach one of the girls who appeared friendly.

Since recording the conversation could attract the wrath of other girls observing from a distance, the conversation was paraphrased. The girl did not disclose her name: “If you want to have sex, we will agree. You can have it with me alone or you pick as many as you can pay for. We do not mind.

“Sometimes, three or four of us sleep with one man. We also have a sex party in this our place where men come and we service them as long as they pay well. For us, it is about money. We do not have anything after that. Some of the men have our phone numbers. We negotiate on the phone sometimes before they come here.

“There are some cheap guest houses here. If you do not like it here, you can take us to the guest houses. They are cheap. It is just N500 for 30 minutes. But if you want to spend additional 30 minutes, you pay extra money, depending on the manager of the place. But for us, you cannot last for more than 15 minutes. You have to Erupt quickly otherwise you will pay for extra time. We always tell you these things in order to avoid any trouble.

“As for what you are to pay us, it is negotiable. It ranges from N1,000 to N1,500, depending on how beautiful the girl is. But there are other side attractions you pay for if you want extra services. If you want to suck breasts, you pay N500. For Mouth Action you pay N500. For anal sex, it attracts N500 or N1,000. We agree on these things and you pay before service so that we will not have any problems after the whole thing.

“If you want us to come and service you in your house, we can come. You will have to give us the kind of women you want and we will come there. This is our life. Many of us have families we take care of and we also have children. We are not doing this because we like it. But we have to survive. We do not want to steal. That is why we are doing it.”

Findings revealed that the village head of the place has been making frantic efforts to chase out the prostitutes. It was gathered that the head in recent times, invited the police to arrest and chase out girls involved in money for sex trade. But for now, it appears that the efforts of the village head are not yielding the needed results, as the sex trade volume is increasing..

Hausa, Fulani in bloody clash in Lagos! See details

There was chaos on Wednesday at the Lagos State Abattoir, Agege, as Hausa and Fulani traders clashed.

No fewer than three persons were killed, while more than 20 people reportedly sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to different hospitals in the area.

PUNCH Metro, during a visit to the area, counted six vehicles that were vandalised and some cattle that were also reportedly killed by the warring groups.

Our correspondent observed patrol vehicles from the Elere, Abattoir, Alakuko police divisions, while some military officers and men of the Rapid Response Squad were deployed in the area to maintain peace and order.

Our correspondent gathered that the two groups started having issues after the Nigeria Railway Corporation demolished some shanties and shops erected around the railway line.

The structures were reportedly owned by the Hausa, who were majorly scrap collectors.

They were said to have accused the Fulani, who were cattle dealers of being responsible for their ordeal, adding that the Fulani encouraged the government to demolish the structures to facilitate easy rail transport of their cows from the north to the abattoir.

A trader, Jimoh Umoru, said crisis erupted after a Hausa woman was assaulted by a Fulani man, who had bought food from her and refused to pay.

He said, “The Hausa are majorly scrap collectors, and they ply their trade around the railway line where they also built their shanties.

“On Saturday, the government demolished their shanties and shops and many of them were displaced and lost their means of livelihood. They felt that their Fulani brothers, who deal in cattle, were behind what happened to them.

“The matter came to a head on Tuesday after a Fulani man bought food from a Hausa woman, and refused to pay. There was argument between them and the man assaulted the girl. That was how the two tribes started fighting each other.

“Around 1am on Wednesday, some of the Fulani youths invaded the apartments of the Hausa and killed some of them.

“By 5am, the Hausa launched a reprisal and injured many of the Fulani and destroyed their property. The Hausa suffered higher casualties.”

Our correspondent was told that some of the victims were taken to the New Merit Hospitals in the Oko-Oba area of Agege.

A trader, who did not identify himself, blamed the cattle dealers for the mayhem, saying they were intolerant of other traders.

“The Fulani in the market are not tolerant. Any little disagreement, they would start threatening mayhem. The government should be proactive because the Hausa have vowed to avenge their slain brothers. The battle is always at night when people have gone to bed. We are not safe,” he added.

When PUNCH Metro approached the Hausa group in the market, they declined comment.

“We lost three of our people. We won’t say more than that. At the right time, we will call the press,” one of them, who did not identify himself, said.

The spokesperson for the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Lagos State branch, Salisu Jikantoro, said 20 Fulani men were injured, adding that vehicles belonging to the Seriki Fulani were vandalised.

Jikantoro explained that the grouse of the Hausa people was that the Seriki Fulani refused to fight for them when their structures were demolished.

He said, “Last week, the NRC demolished structures where the scrap dealers do their business. The scrap dealers came to complain to the Seriki Fulani and he told them to comply with the government’s directive. He said after the demolition, the little space left should be managed. They left disappointed because they were expecting him to order them to start fighting.

“Today (Wednesday), around 2am, they attacked the cattle dealers to protest against what the government did to them. They entered into the market, burgled some of our shops and beat up people who were sleeping. We didn’t lose anybody, but 20 of our traders were seriously injured.

“Six vehicles, one belonging to the chairman of the cattle dealers, and five others belonging to the Seriki Fulani, were vandalised. Seven of our cattle died as a result of this clash and we have decided that we are not selling cattle today to protest against this havoc.”

Jikantoro said his group gathered that the Hausa were planning to attack them and had started recruiting gangs from the Mile 12 and Ojota areas of Lagos State.

The Galadima Yamma of the Abattoir Market, Alhaji Umar Adam, said he met the police presence by the time he arrived at the market.

“There was a misunderstanding between some Fulani men and the scrap dealers and truck pushers operating in the railway line.

“The issue was not properly handled and it escalated. But with the intervention of the police, calm has been restored.

“The major cause of all this was the demolition carried out on the railway line,” he added.

When PUNCH Metro visited the New Merit Hospitals where some of the victims were reportedly taken to, he was told that two people were brought into the hospital.

The medical director was said to be unavailable, but a nurse, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The two people had cuts in their head and hand.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said one person died in the incident.

She said, “At about 1am today, we received a distress call that there was a serious fight between the Hausa and the Fulani communities in the Abattoir.

“The report indicated that the crisis started after a young Hausa woman was beaten by a Fulani man.

“It degenerated into serious fight and subsequent destruction of property.

“The command’s operatives from Area G, RRS and Abattoir division were moved in to quell the crisis and normalcy has been returned to the area.”

She said the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had ordered a peace parley between the two groups, adding that the police arrested four suspects.
